As part of our commitment to working with your insurance provider to obtain best-possible reimbursement for residential and Intensive Outpatient Program treatment plans, we work with most major insurance providers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield. BCBS has been a leader in healthcare since 1929, and contributes nationwide to research and initiatives to combat substance abuse through prevention, treatment and data-informed policy change. Research initiatives help BCBS identify trends and increase access to care. For example, as the opioid crisis grows, many BCBS companies are reducing barriers to care, including the removal of some pre-authorization requirements for medication assisted treatment. This makes it easier than ever for Blue Cross Blue Shield members to begin their recovery as quickly as possible.
Each Blue Cross Blue Shield plan will vary based on your state of residence, and your specific plan. There are 36 separate health insurance companies nationwide that make up the BCBS Association, and your plan may be listed under a different brand name. Deductibles, co-pay amounts and network providers will be different for each plan. BCBS offers tiered plans in the categories of bronze, silver, gold and platinum, although not every plan is available in each state. While bronze plans typically cover 60% of medical costs after payment of a high deductible, platinum plans cover approximately 90% of costs with a lower deductible, but higher monthly payment. Typically, Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans cover a variety of behavioral and mental health services, and are required by law to provide no less favorable benefits, deductibles and co-pays for these services as for any other medical or surgical procedure. If your plan is a Health Maintenance Organization, or HMO plan, you may only be covered at an in-network facility. If your plan is a Preferred Provider Organization, or PPO plan, there may be a wider range of options available to you. However, with 106 million members worldwide, the Blue Cross Blue Shield network is among the largest in the United States, and at the Guardian Recovery we are pleased to work with Blue Cross Blue Shield at our network of addiction treatment facilities throughout the eastern United States.
